Rishabh Pant has been having a tough time in IPL 2025. In 10 innings, he has managed just 128 runs with a strike rate of 99, which is quite low for someone of his caliber. Pant's form has been inconsistent, and his batting position keeps changing, sometimes opening and other times coming in as low as No.7.
This constant shuffling seems to have thrown him off balance, leading to three consecutive losses for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) towards the end of the group stage.
Mayank Yadav Shows Support To Struggling Rishabh Pant
His poor form and leadership have made the fans and the experts question, especially since LSG's chances of making it to the playoffs are hanging by a thread. They currently stand at the 7th position with 10 points and need to win their remaining three games, hoping other results go in their favour.
Amidst this criticism, LSG pacer Mayank Yadav has shown support for Pant. Speaking at a pre-match press conference, he stated that Pant doesn't appear to be under pressure. Mayank shared that he has known Pant for a while, and whenever they talk about cricket or the team's situation, Pant always seems confident and composed.
"I have known Rishabh bhaiya for a while now because we play for the same club in Delhi. Whenever I have spoken to him, I have not felt that he is under pressure. He is confidently talking to me about the game, about the situation, [and] about the opposition batsmen," Mayank said.
Mayank also admitted that the team has made mistakes in reading the pitch conditions but remains hopeful about their playoff chances if they win the next three matches.
"We have been a little late in assessing the grounds and the wickets. We have made mistakes there; I'll accept that. But we have three matches, and if we win that, there might be a chance we can make the playoffs," he added.
As LSG gear up to face Royal Challengers Bengaluru in a must-win match, all eyes will be on Pant to see if he can find his form and lead the team to victory.
