Hardik Pandya has been named in India’s 15-player squad for next month’s T20I World Cup in Australia. The cricketer has had a stellar year so far, having led Gujarat Titans to their maiden IPL title, and leading the Indian team to a series win in Ireland. The cricketer was also instrumental for the ‘Men in Blue’ in securing an ODI series in England in July this year.

Former England all-rounder Tim Bresnan has heaped praise on Pandya, describing the 28-year-old as someone who can add balance to the team. Bresnan also has an advice for the Indian star, and additionally spoke about the prospects of Rohit Sharma and co. for the impending showpiece event in Australia.

“Pandya needs to mature a bit more” – says Bresnan

While speaking to PTI, the Englishman said that a pace bowling all-rounder like Pandya is crucial for any team. He also added that the Baroda-based cricketer is a very good athlete, who just needs to mature a bit more.

“Definitely, a pace bowling all-rounder is quite crucial, it balances your team, it gives you two cricketers in one. Hardik is really good on the field as well. He's a very good athlete. He's got to mature a bit more, then he is going to be a top, top player.”

The Yorkshire-born cricketer also considers India as one of the contenders to lift the T20I World Cup in Australia.

“You can't discount India ever... But I think England, Australia and New Zealand are probably the three favourites. But India and Pakistan have the same chance and Sri Lanka have done really well in the Asia Cup, so you never know, whoever brings on the day.”
