England players celebrate a wicket during India T20Is
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have announced a 15-player squad for their upcoming home ODI series against India. Alice Capsey and Freya Kemp were among those who received their maiden ODI call-ups by the cricket board for the series, set to commence on September 18 in Hove.
Amy Jones to continue as captain in Knightâs absence
The series against India will mark the first set of fixtures for England in the ongoing 2022â2025 ICC Women's Championship cycle. The championship itself serves as a qualification setup for the 2025 Womenâs World Cup.
Amy Jones is set to continue as captain, having previously led the English team in their 2-1 win in the T20Is against the âWomen in Blueâ. Here is a look at the entire 15-player team for the ODI series:
England Women Squad: Amy Jones, Tammy Beaumont, Lauren Bell, Maia Bouchier, Alice Capsey, Kate Cross, Freya Davies, Alice Davidson-Richards, Charlie Dean, Sophia Dunkley, Sophie Ecclestone, Freya Kemp, Emma Lamb, Issy Wong, Danni Wyatt.
Speaking on Jonesâ extended captaincy term in the absence of regular skipper Heather Knight, England Womenâs Head Coach Lisa Keightley said:
âAmy did a great job as captain and she was ably supported by Sophie so we want them to carry on what theyâve been doing. Itâs another big series, especially with points counting towards ICC Womenâs World Cup qualification, and with the summer ending at Lordâs thereâs a lot to be excited about.â
