Three Indians feature in ICC U-19 Women's T20 World Cup team of the tournament

What ended as one of the most inspiring tournaments in Women's cricket history, the Indian side clinched the inaugural U-19 Women's T20 Cricket World Cup in South Africa. After the conclusion of the tournament, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced their team comprising three Indians. Let's have a look at them:

  2. Grace Scrivens (Captain) (England)
  3. Shafali Verma (India)
  4. Georgia Plimmer (New Zealand)
  5. Dewmi Vihanga (Sri Lanka)
  6. Shorna Akter (Bangladesh)
  7. Karabo Meso (Wicket-keeper) (South Africa)
  8. Parshavi Chopra (India)
  9. Hannah Baker (England)
  10. Ellie Anderson (England)
  11. Maggie Clark (Australia)
  12. Anosha Nasir (12th Player) (Pakistan)

With some outstanding batting throughout the World Cup, Shweta Sehrawat stole the limelight as she amassed 297 runs while striking at around 140 as she batted at an average of 99. Her firepower ensured India always had a solid start which kept them ahead of other teams.

Apart from Sehrawat, India skipper Shafali Verma finds herself in the side too as she was placed third on the list of highest run-getters in the mega-event after thumping 172 runs at a whopping strike rate of 193.

Further, the leg-spinner Parshavi Chopra has made it to the XI after ending the tournament as the second-highest wicket-taker bagging 11 wickets while featuring in six matches. She eventually rose up the ranks during the later stages giving India a major chance to dominate during the middle phase.

Moreover, England's Grace Scrivens has been appointed as the captain of the side considering her wonderful record in both the departments amassing 293 runs and scalping nine wickets.
