It came down as the biggest moment in the past few years for India as the Women's Under-19 side under the leadership of Shafali Verma lifted the inaugural World Cup title after beating England by seven wickets in an extremely low-scoring encounter.

The entire side went into jubilation when they achieved the final run. However, during the post-match presentation, skipper Verma was asked about her chances before the tournament and her feelings after the game today.

The right-hander while expressing her emotions broke down into tears as she was mentioning everyone involved with her right through in this journey. Further, she was quite impressed with how all the players stood up at the right time for the team during crucial stages.

"Ofcourse, we did it. Everyone is happy here. Thanks to the staffs here, the way they backed us every day. The way they have supported us [in tears]. It has been incredible. It is very good.

"Thanks to BCCI for giving me the confidence and giving this team. It has been incredible from us. Not just Shweta, Parshavi also bowled very well. I can't take individual names, everyone was brilliant."

This was the first-ever title in India women's cricket history as Shafali was previously involved in the finals of the Women's T20 World Cup 2020 in Australia which they lost.
