In what seems to be a shocking piece of news for the Bangladesh cricket fans, some of the notable players have been left out of the tournament’s auction list for the 2025-26 edition. Two renowned names in this list are Anamul Haque Bijoy and Mosaddek Hossain, who have represented the national side of Bangladesh in international cricket.
Anamul Haque made his international debut for Bangladesh in 2012 and has played eight Tests, 49 ODIs, and 20 T20Is so far. On the other hand, Mosaddek has featured in four Tests, 43 ODIs, and 33 T20Is since his debut in 2016.
Bijoy and Mosaddek were placed in the Category C of the auction list. Besides these two, the list of other cricketers who have been left out include Alauddin Babu from Category D, Nihauzzaman (Category E), Sunzamul Islam (Category E), alongside Shafiul Islam and Mizanur Rahman from Category F.
ACU Report bursts the ‘fixing’ sin in BPL
This decision was taken by the Bangladesh Cricket Board just a day ahead of the tournament’s auction. It came in the light of the Anti-Corruption Unit’s recommendations and suggestions. ACU consultant recommended this decision to BCB on the grounds of a 900-page confidential report.
The report wasn’t made public, but Marshall confirmed that this report had the mention of players, support staff and the officials who were allegedly in cahoots with those who were in fixing and other activities.
Now, the auction list for the upcoming BPL 2025-26 has also been updated, with 158 local players, including 245 overseas players in the preliminary list of the foreign participants. However, the board is yet to release the updated auction list.
Meanwhile, the future of the left-out players still remains uncertain if they will be eligible to feature in the Bangladesh Premier League’s next edition or continues to get left out.
