Tamim Iqbal To Reveal Reason Behind Kickout From Bangladesh World Cup Squad

The recent fiasco over former captain Tamim Iqbal's non-selection in Bangladesh's 15-man ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 squad has left a sour taste.

On Tuesday, after much deliberation, the BCB named a solid national men's squad for the 10-nation event taking place in India next month, under the leadership of all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan sans Iqbal.

Iqbal, who overturned his ODI retirement after requests from Bangladesh PM and BCB President in August, as per several news agencies has been accused of putting forward abrupt demands on the table, leading to the star opener's ouster from the WC squad.

Now, in a personal FaceBook post, Iqbal has stated that he will reveal the truth behind his omission today evening, once the Bangladesh team flies off for India. The 34-year-old will address the press and public via a video message as stated his in FB post in Bengali.


Here's what Iqbal's FB post said

"I will tell something through a video message regarding the last few days' happenings after the Bangladesh national team's departure for India. There have been a lot of things that came to the media in the last few days. I think the Bangladesh team, my fans and supporters ..everybody has the right to know clearly about everything."

Former captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza in his FB post also urged fans to wait for Iqbal's version of the story, and not make any haste calls, pinning the blame on the latter.

Since 2007, Iqbal has featured in 243 ODIs and amasses 8,357 runs with 14 centuries and 56 fifties.
