Team India failed to contain West Indies captain Shai Hope and Keacy Carty from sealing an emphatic run-chase in the second ODI to level the three-match series. Amidst the visitors’ best efforts, Hope charted an unbeaten 63 to defy the likes of Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Umran Malik among others.

Notably, Suryakumar Yadav was at his vocal best during the West Indies innings. The Indian cricketer kept cheering up his bowlers amidst a tense run-chase, and even motivated ace spinner Kuldeep Yadav in a hilarious manner at one point.

During the 29th over of the West Indies run-chase in the second ODI, Indian fielder Suryakumar Yadav was heard urging spinner Kuldeep Yadav to remove a threatening Shai Hope from the crease. Caught by the stump mic, the cricketer quoted an Aamir Khan line from the 2001 Bollywood drama ‘Lagaan’.

At a time when Kuldeep was gearing up to deliver his next ball to Hope, Suryakumar was heard saying:

                             “Tu hi hamara Kachra hai” (You are our Kachra)

The word ‘Kachra’ itself refers to the name of a spin bowler from the iconic movie.

On-field verbal antics aside, Suryakumar Yadav’s struggles with the bat continues to haunt Team India in ODIs. The Mumbai Indians veteran was dismissed for just 24 in the recently-concluded second ODI, and managed just 19 in the series opener in Bridgetown earlier.

Moreover, the cricketer sustained three successive first-ball ducks in a three-game ODI series against Australia at home in March this year.
