Suryakumar Yadav Eyes AB De Villiers' Special IPL Record During IPL Eliminator vs GT

On Friday, May 30, Mumbai Indians locked horns against Gujarat Titans at the Mullanpur Stadium in the IPL 2025 eliminator. In the crucial match, eyes are on Mumbai Indians, who are eyeing their sixth IPL title. Further, Suryakumar Yadav, who is having a fantastic season with the bat, is also eyeing a special record. 

Notably, SKY, who has scored 640 runs in 14 matches, has also already scripted several feats with his heroics. Surya, in the previous match, broke Sachin Tendulkar's record for most runs for MI in a single IPL season. Meanwhile, the right-hand batter now eyes to shatter AB de Villiers' long-standing record. 

SKY need just 48 more runs to go past ABD to become the non-opening batter with the most runs in a single edition of IPL.  In 2016, AB de Villiers scored 687 runs for RCB and now SKY holds the chance to shatter the nine-year-old feat. 

Suryakumar Yadav In Orange Cap Race

The positive for SKY is that he boasts a great record in IPL playoffs and has scored 329 runs at an average of 36.55 and a strike rate of 133.19. He also has three half-centuries in playoffs, with a highest score of an unbeaten 71.

SKY is also fighting for the orange cap as the Mumbai Indians batter is third on the list with 640 runs in 14 matches and is just 39 runs away from toppling Sai Sudharsan, who has 679 runs. Although, Sai will get a shot today to extend the lead at the top.
