In a massive development, swashbuckling Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav has been declared fit for the ongoing Indian Premier League season.

As reported by Express Sports, the explosive batter has regained match fitness and is all set to feature in Mumbai Indians' upcoming IPL 2024 match against Delhi Capitals.

A BCCI source apparently provided the update to the reputed media agency, explaining how Suryakumar's fitness was thoroughly tested through practice matches before he received the green signal from the NCA to participate in the lucrative tournament.

“He is fit now. The NCA made him play a few practice games and he looked good. He can join the Mumbai Indians team. We wanted to be sure that when Surya goes back to MI, he is 100 percent fit and ready to play games," the source said.

"He wasn’t feeling 100% during his first fitness Test before the IPL, so we waited to see if there was any pain while he was batting," he added.

Notably, Suryakumar Yadav was ruled out of India’s tour of South Africa due to an ankle injury. However, his condition worsened as he developed a sports hernia, leading to his absence in the IPL 2024.

However, as he is set to join the Mumbai Indians’ squad after rehabilitation, the five-time champions might drop Naman Dhir to accommodate him in their playing XI.
