WBBL 2022: Hobart Hurricanes sign 18-year-old Julia Cavanough for WBBL 08

Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) club Hobart Hurricanes have signed 18-year-old Julia Cavanough, handing the youngster her first-ever WBBL contract. The Hurricanes have now got on board all of their 15-member squad for WBBL 08, which starts October 15.

​Cavanough earned her maiden professional contract for the Tasmanian Tigers after an impressive showing in underage and Premier Cricket for Queensland.

The 18-year-old is a swing bowler who can also whack the ball down the order. She plays for the Tigers, the defending champions in the Women's National Cricket League (WNCL).


Apart from players, this season sees an array of personnel changes as well, with Dan Marsh donning the role of head coach. Rhett Lockyear and Tim Kendrew will act as assistant coaches.

The Hurricanes have the likes of Mignon du Preez, Heather Graham, Lizelle Lee, Elyse Villani, and Issy Wong within their ranks. 

Hobart take on Sydney Thunder in their opening match in the 2022 edition on October 14.
