SRH overwhelmed hosts CSK in match number 43 of the IPL 2025 season in Chennai. Through the course of the match, CSK captain and legendary wicketkeeper-batter MS Dhoni attained a significant landmark figure. In other news, fast bowler Umran Malik has joined the KKR franchise amidst his injury.

Capping an eventful day in the world of cricket, here we take a look at five of the biggest cricketing news that emerged out of Friday, April 25.

Harshal Patel, Ishan Kishan Engineer SRH Win Over CSK

SRH flattened CSK by five wickets in just 18.4 overs at Chennai in match number 43 of the IPL 2025 season. The hosts batted first and folded up for 154 inside 20 overs, with young Dewald Brevis cracking 42 of those runs from just 25 balls. Teenage sensation Ayush Mhatre also made a swift 19-ball 30 at the top, before Harshal Patel ran through CSK’s batting order with a four-wicket haul. Patel’s pace mates Pat Cummins and Jaydev Unadkat also chipped in with two wickets each.

Chasing 155, Ishan Kishan led SRH’s charge with a quick 44, before Kamindu Mendis and Nitish Kumar Reddy forged an unbeaten 49-run partnership to negate Noor Ahmad’s two-wicket spell.

MS Dhoni Completes 400 T20 Matches

MS Dhoni played the 400th match of his T20 career through CSK’s latest IPL 2025 outing against the SRH in Chennai. The legendary wicketkeeper-batter became only the fourth Indian cricketer after Rohit Sharma, Dinesh Karthik and Virat Kohli to scale the landmark figure. Dhoni played 98 of those as internationals for Team India, and 273 for the CSK and RPS franchises in the IPL. Aged 43, the former Indian skipper also played 24 matches in the now-defunct Champions League T20, all for the CSK franchise.

Heinrich Klaasen Optimistic Of SRH’s Chances

SRH batter Heinrich Klaasen has fired an aggressive warning to all teams as the IPL 2025 season heads into its business end. Even though the SRH team is struggling in the bottom half of the points table, Klaasen believes they can still make it to the playoffs by winning each of their remaining games. The South African cricketer stated the same prior to SRH’s away fixture against CSK in Chennai. Klaasen even claimed that the SRH team will continue to employ their aggressive “brand of cricket” even though the results have not gone in their favour lately.

Umran Malik Joins KKR Amidst IPL 2025

Indian fast bowler Umran Malik has joined the KKR franchise amidst the ongoing IPL 2025 season, albeit not as a player. The speedster will instead continue his rehabilitation in a bid to attain full recovery from injury. Umran was acquired by the KKR franchise back during the IPL 2025 mega auction last year after he was released by the SRH. However, an injury setback ruled the 25-year-old out of the season.

As part of KKR’s “return to cricket” program, Umran Malik will work with fellow KKR players and support staff members as he fights his way back to competitive cricket.

MI’s ESA Initiative To Light Up Wankhede In LSG Match

The Mumbai Indians franchise will spotlight the Education and Sports for All (ESA) initiative during their upcoming home IPL 2025 match against the visiting Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Wankhede Stadium on April 27. Helmed by Mumbai Indians co-owner Mrs. Nita Ambani, this annual marquee event is aimed to empower underprivileged children through sports and education. During the upcoming MI vs LSG match, the Wankhede Stadium will host 19,000 children, representing NGOs partnered with the Reliance Foundation.
