MS Dhoni Blames Chepauk's Pitch For CSK's Poor Show
Indian legend and current skipper of the Chennai Super Kings, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who has stood in for the CSK regular captain Ruturaj Gaikwad after the latter got injured, has blamed the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai's pitch for side's batting woes.
Ahead of the encounter against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Dhoni, during the pre-match toss interview, explained why Chennai's pitch is not something they are very keen about.
Dhoni explained that they would want to focus on one game at a time and ensure that they enjoy each and every game with whatever they have been left with.
However, speaking further, the skipper explained that the wicket at Chepauk is not something they like, considering the fact that the ball does not grip and the pitches are unpredictable, unlike what they used to be back in the era when CSK were a dominant force at their home, which they used to call a fortress.
"We are not too sure how the wicket is. The groundsmen are trying their level best, I feel the old red soil wicket was a good one, the one before 2010 Champions League. Once the wicket was relaid after 2010, the wicket has never been the same."
Adding further, he said the red soil wickets suited them; however, with time, the case isn't the same, as they have been enjoyed on this relaid wicket, which was put into force after the 2010-2011 season.
