The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) franchise will likely retain Umran Malik and Abdul Samad, among others, ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) auctions. As per recent developments, confirmed by Mohsin Kamal, the franchise might also extend Vivrant Sharma’s contract for the forthcoming season.

Earlier this year, during the IPL 2023 season, the SRH finished at the bottom of the points table, securing just four wins from their 14 league fixtures.

Pace sensation Umran Malik shot himself to unprecedented stardom through the SRH camp back in IPL 2022.

Turning up in each of his side’s 14 league fixtures, the speedster harvested 22 wickets with a four-fer and a five-wicket haul to his name. However, Malik’s performance dwindled the following season, when he claimed just five wickets from eight matches while holding a much higher economy rate and an unimpressive bowling average.

In spite of his flop show in IPL 2023, the SRH team management might well extend the fast bowler’s contract for the 2024 season, as per recent reports.

Moreover, Umran Malik’s Jammu and Kashmir teammates Abdul Samad and Vivrant Sharma might also feature in the 2024 line-up for the franchise, as the three cricketers are all slated to be retained by the team management ahead of the 2024 auctions.

In an additional report, the SRH camp will likely release England’s batting prodigy Harry Brook owing to his listless run in this year’s IPL 2023 season. Brook managed to score just 190 runs in 11 matches, which included 100 runs in a single innings.
