In a massive setback for Sunrisers Hyderabad, their premier spinner Wanindu Hasaranga has been ruled out of the ongoing Indian Premier League season. As reported by Newswire, the leg spinner has sustained a left heel injury and won't participate in the remainder of the competition. 

Hailed for his incredible all-round attributes, Hasaranga was released by Royal Challengers Bengaluru ahead of the mini auction. However, he found a new home in the auction, with the Sunrisers purchasing him for his base price of INR 1.5 Cr. 

As someone who can score handy runs down the order besides bamboozling the batters in the middle overs, Hasaranga brings immense all-round value to the table for any T20 franchise. 

However, as he has sustained an injury, the passionate SRH fans will miss him in the competition, with the team likely to announce his replacement in due time. 

Regarding SRH, the Pat Cummins-led side had a torrid start to the IPL 2024, losing to Kolkata Knight Riders by a narrow four-run margin in their opening game. 

However, they bounced back remarkably, posting the highest-ever team total and eventually winning the high-scoring face-off against five-time champions Mumbai Indians. 

This afternoon, they face Gujarat Titans in their third group-stage fixture of the competition. As skipper Pat Cummins opted to bat first in the high-voltage encounter, the SRH batters would be keen to replicate a similar level of success in today’s contest.
