South Africa have made history by reaching their first-ever ICC Men's T20 World Cup final, after convincingly defeating Afghanistan in Trinidad on Thursday. Following this landmark victory, former players and other South Africans took to social media to congratulate the national team and extend their best wishes for the final against an undefeated Indian team. The final will take place at the Kensington Oval in Barbados on Saturday, June 29.

As this marks the first time the rainbow nation has reached the finals of an ICC event, the entire country is rallying behind the Proteas, hoping they will bring the trophy home. Among those offering their best wishes was South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, who tweeted his support for the team.

President Ramaphosa's tweet came ahead of the India vs. England match, before South Africa's final opponents were determined. Now, in pursuit of their first ICC title, the Proteas will face India in the T20 World Cup 2024 final.

Both teams have been in remarkable form leading up to the final, remaining unbeaten throughout the tournament. India has triumphed over Australia, England, and Pakistan to secure their place in the final.

Meanwhile, South Africa impressed by defeating both England and co-hosts West Indies during the Super 8 stages, and an in-form Afghanistan team in the semi-finals, to earn their spot in the World Cup final. Given the outstanding performances of both teams throughout the tournament, the final is expected to be a thrilling encounter.
