Smriti Mandhana Overhauls Chamari Athapaththu For A Top 3 Spot In Latest ICC Rankings

India's star opener, Smriti Mandhana overhauled Sri Lankan skipper Chamari Athapathu to make her way into the top three of the ICC Women's ODI Ranking for batters. Mandhana's rating points now stands at 738, while that of the Sri Lanka star is 727. 

The ICC have released their latest rankings which takes into account the performance from the 2nd T20I of the Ireland Women vs Sri Lanka Women series and the first two matches of the ICC Women's Championship. Notably, this 10 team championship will help determine the qualification to the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025.

Shifts in T20I Rankings

Sri Lankan Opener Harshitha Samarawickrama jumped three places to rank 13th in the T20I ranking after she scored 65 off 44 in the second T20I.

Besides, Ireland opener Gaby Lewis also moved four places to equal the career best ranking of 21 which she previously achieved in 2022. Lewis slammed a blistering century in the second T20I which helped her case.

Shifts in ODI Rankings

Meanwhile, Orla Prendergast also noticed gains in the ODI rankings after she scored 131 runs in the first two ODIs of the IWC. She moved nine places to achieve a career-best 28th position in batters rankings. 

While Lean Paul gained four positions to rank just below Orla at the 29th spot, Amy Hunter finished at the 34th position, thus gaining 10 places.

However, Sri Lankan veteran Chamari Athapaththu dropped down a place below Smriti Mandhana at 4th position.  

Meanwhile, in the bowlers rankings, Ireland pacer Arelene Kelly moved to 27th position in ODI bowlers ranks after she picked up five wickets in T20 ODIs. For Sri Lanka women, Kavisha Dilhari gained five slots to earn 30th ranking as six wickets in two games helped her merit.
