On Wednesday, April 23, Mumbai Indians secured a seven-wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad, making it their fourth consecutive win. While Trent Boult shone with the ball, taking four wickets, it was former captain Rohit Sharma who played a crucial role in the chase of 144 runs. He scored 70 runs off just 46 balls, including eight boundaries and three sixes, marking a significant achievement in his IPL career.

In a post-match video shared by Mumbai Indians on X (formerly Twitter), Rohit was seen receiving a special medal from Suryakumar Yadav for his outstanding performance. The video caption read,

Rohit Sharma’s Red-Hot Form Fuels MI’s IPL Comeback

Rohit’s consistency is undeniable. Known for his class, he’s shown that form may come and go, but his skill remains constant. As the IPL heats up, Mumbai Indians are picking up momentum, with Rohit leading the charge. In his last two matches, he scored 76* against CSK and 70 against SRH, both off just 45 and 46 balls. 

For the first time since 2016, Rohit has managed to score back-to-back half-centuries in the IPL. His last such achievement came in 2016 when he scored consecutive fifties against Kolkata Knight Riders and Rising Pune Supergiants. 

Now, at 37, Rohit has found his form at the perfect moment for Mumbai Indians. After struggling in the first six matches with just 82 runs and an average of 13.7, Rohit has bounced back with two impressive fifty-plus scores. He has now become his team’s third-highest run-scorer, with 228 runs in eight matches at an average of 32.57, and a striking rate of 154.05. Rohit has hit 18 sixes and 15 fours so far this season.

Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians also have bounced back with a great performance. With four back-to-back wins, they are now in 3rd place on the points table.
