'Size Issue With His Jersey...,' Reason Revealed Why Suryakumar Yadav Wore Sanju Samson's Jersey In 1st ODI

The first One-Day International (ODI) between hosts West Indies and India in Barbados had its fair share of social media outcry due to the non-selection of Sanju Samson. However, when India took the field, Samson's jersey was spotted, which created confusion, only to be revealed that Suryakumar Yadav was donning the No.9 jersey.

Apart from fielding, Yadav wore Samson's jersey while batting as well. As reported by Indian Express, this happened because Yadav received the wrong-sized kit and did not want to play feeling uncomfortable.

The Mumbai Indians batter did wear his jersey during the photoshoot but opted to field wearing someone else's jersey. The BCCI source further stated that SKY will receive his kit after the second ODI.

Here's what the BCCI source said

"There was some size issue with his jersey. We were told about it two days before the game. He will be receiving his new jersey after the second ODI as the BCCI has shipped it with Indian team players selected for the T20 series. Till then he will be wearing his teammate jersey while playing."

This is not the first time that logistical issues have hampered Indian players in the West Indies, even during their last tour due to a delay in the team's luggage, which forced the postponement of the second T20I.

Yadav, who scored just 15 in India's five-wicket win over Windies on Thursday, will hope to showcase a better performance in the second ODI, which will also be held at the same venue.
