Zimbabwean cricket team has made several changes to their T20I setup for their upcoming home series against Ireland. Battered and bruised by their recent failure at the 2024 T20 World Cup Qualifiers, Sikandar Raza and co. will be hosting Ireland for three T20Is and as many ODI fixtures at the Harare Sports Club between December 7 and December 17.

Zimbabwe name uncapped players for Ireland T20Is

Zimbabwe cricket team recently failed to qualify for next year’s T20 World Cup 2024 in West Indies, courtesy of falling behind Namibia and Uganda at the Africa Region Qualifiers.

As Sikandar Raza and co. brace themselves for a fresh chapter post their recent disappointment, the Zimbabwe Cricket selection committee have decided to rope in a couple of fresh faces to their line-up for their forthcoming series against Ireland. They named two uncapped players in the form of 25-year-old fast bowler Trevor Gwandu and rising middle-order star Brian Bennett.

Brandon Mavuta, who played the last of his nine T20I matches for Zimbabwe more than a year ago in Bulawayo, also earned back a call to the national side for the series.

Dazzling all-rounder and T20 veteran Sikandar Raza will continue to lead the side, which features a number of senior pros like Sean Williams, Ryan Burl and Blessing Muzarabani.

Here is a look at Zimbabwe’s entire 15-player squad for three T20I matches against Ireland:

Sikandar Raza (c), Brian Bennett, Ryan Burl, Craig Ervine, Trevor Gwandu, Luke Jongwe, Clive Madande, Wessly Madhevere, Tadiwanashe Marumani, Brandon Mavuta, Carl Mumba, Tony Munyonga, Blessing Muzarabani, Richard Ngarava and Sean Williams.

The three fixtures are slated to be played on December 7, December 9 and December 10, all at the Harare Sports Club. The iconic Zimbabwean venue will also be hosting the subsequent ODI series between the two sides until December 17.

The Zimbabwe selection committee is expected to announce an ODI squad within the next few days.
