Zimbabwe are all set to play their first Test on the English soil since 2003 when they take on England at the Trent Bridge Stadium in Nottingham on May 22. It will be a four-day affair, and Zimbabwe have now announced a 15-member squad for the same.
Zimbabwe Look To Continue Good Work From Bangladesh Against England
Craig Ervine would continue to lead the side after they drew the series in Bangladesh, and have got a big boost with the return of Sikandar Raza. He has replaced Johnathan Campbell while Clive Madande also has made his comeback after recovering successfully from injury. As a result, Nyasha Mayavo has missed out.
Zimbabwe have also opted for an extra pace option in place of a spinner and that means Vincent Masekesa misses out despite picking up a five-wicket haul on his debut Test against Bangladesh. Newman Nyamhuri is an extra pace option in the side alongside bowlers like Blessing Muzarabani, Richard Ngarava and Victor Nyauchi. Wellington Masakadza, the left-arm orthodox spinner will lead the spin department with Sikandar and Sean Williams all set to support him.
The batting group looks sold with the duo of Brian Bennett and Ben Curran at the top of the order. The middle order consists of three experienced stars, Craig Ervine, Sean Williams and Sikandar Raza and the onus will be on them to tackle English bowlers in their home conditions.
The one-off Test against England will be followed by another Test against South Africa that will start on June 3.
