In all likeliness, Shubman Gill will be a part of India's playing XI for the highly anticipated India versus Australia fifth and final Test match. The game will take place at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on Friday, 3 January, and latest signs show that Gill will most likely be included in the team plans at the SCG.
Gambhir on Rohit's Place In India's Playing XI
In the pre-match presser, India's head coach, Gautam Gambhir, addressed the media's query, mainly about the Indian team's lineup. In one of the most sizzling interactions with the press, Gambhir refused to confirm Rohit Sharma's place in India's playing XI, citing wicket as a prime reason. He said:
"We will take the Playing XI call at the toss after looking at the pitch tomorrow."

In a video doing rounds on social media, Gill is seen receiving a fist bump and pat on the back from Gautam Gambhir. Followed by which Jasprit Bumrah also came to shake hands with the Punjab-born batter. Interestingly, the 25-year-old, was seen taking catches at slip for a spinner and Rohit Sharma was not part of the potentially new-look slip cordon. With Kohli at first, KL at second and Reddy at third.
Rohit Sharma, who has struggled with form and captaincy in the on-going Border Gavaskar Trophy is receiving a lot of heat. While many have criticised the Mumbai-born batter, there are numerous reports suggesting that the upcoming Test would be his last and Rohit would retire.
