In a significant development, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has penalised Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill for violating a major rule in the IPL 2025 clash against Delhi Capitals. Led by Gill, the Titans enjoyed stellar success on the field, defeating the visitors by seven wickets in a high-scoring contest at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Shubman Gill Penalised By BCCI After GT vs DC Match
Despite his team's clinical win, Shubman Gill couldn't contribute much to the total, managing only seven runs off five deliveries. He suffered another setback after the game concluded, with the BCCI penalising him for violating the article 2.2 of the IPL code of conduct, which deals with the minimum over rate offences.
Notably, the Titans failed to bowl their full quota of overs in the stipulated time. This is the reason why BCCI sanctioned a hefty fine worth INR 12 lakhs to their captain Shubman Gill.
Thus, Gill joined the infamous list of IPL captains featuring Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya, Riyan Parag and Sanju Samson, who have been fined for the same reason in the past.
