Asia Cup 2025 is around the corner as the prestigious continental cup begins on September 9. India will their campaign on September 10 when the Men in Blue take on UAE. At present, the Suryakumar Yadav-led side have reached Dubai to start their preparations for the Asia Cup. It has been a long break for the Men in Blue as India last played Test cricket against England on August 4.
The Suryakumar Yadav-led side are facing a tough challenge to shift their focus from red-ball cricket to white-ball cricket. Meanwhile, in the latest events, there are reports that India will continue to practice with red-ball cricket because of the Test series against the West Indies shortly after the Asia Cup.
India To Prepare With Red-Ball During Asia Cup 2025
A report from Inside Sport mentioned that the players like Shubman Gill, who are part of the Asia Cup and will play Tests against the Windies, will also practice with red-ball cricket to be fully prepared for the upcoming challenge.
Notably, the Asia Cup will take place from September 9 to 28, and the Test series against the West Indies starts from October 2. Thus, India only have four days to switch to Test cricket from the white-ball format.
Management Looking For A Strong Squad For Windies Squad
India play West Indies in a two-Test series starting October 2. The matches will be played in Ahmedabad and Delhi, and form a crucial part of India’s World Test Championship cycle.
Notably, India are fresh off a great series against England where the Shubman Gill-led side drew the series 2-2. Thus, the BCCI and the management are looking to announce a strong squad for the Windies challenge, which is why the likes of Shubman Gill and others will utilise the time for Asia to prepare for Test cricket.
