Shubman Gill And GT Fined By IPL After 'Dominating' Victory Vs CSK! Here's The Reason

In match No.59 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL), Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill was fined Rs 24 lakhs for maintaining a slow over-rate against Chennai Super Kings. 

The other players of Gujarat Titans playing XI, including the Impact player have been fined individually either Rs 6 lakh or 25 percent of their respective match fees.

This is the second offence for Shubman Gill and Gujarat Titans related to their slow rate. Coincidentally, both offences have come against the same Chennai Super Kings. The GT captain had faced its first offence in the seventh match against CSK in which he was fined Rs 12 lakhs for a slow over-rate offence. 


Shubman Gill and GT Players Fined For Maintaining Slow Over Rate 

Earlier in the match, GT defeated CSK by 35 runs on Friday, with this win Shubman Gill & Co have kept their hope still alive for the the playoffs. On the other hand, the CSK has complicated its path to playoff qualification. 

CSK won the match and invited GT to bat first and the franchise smashed a massive 231/3 in the allotted 20 overs with significant contributions from captain Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan.

In chasing the target, CSK was not able to fight the total and finished at 196/8 despite a 109-run partnership between Daryl Mitchell and Moeen Ali. 

GT will play its next match against Kolkata Knight Riders on May 13 and CSK will face Rajasthan Royals on May 11.
