In a significant development, all-rounder Shreyanka Patil and leg-spinner Priya Mishra have been ruled out of India A’s upcoming tour of Australia. This tour marks an important phase for the next generation of India’s women cricketers, comprising three T20s, three one-dayers, and a four-day red-ball fixture. The matches will be played across McKay and Brisbane from 7th to 24th August.
Shreyanka Patil’s Comeback Further Delayed Amid Injury Setback
Shreyanka Patil, who has been out of action since last year’s Women’s T20 World Cup in the UAE due to an ankle injury and was earlier added to the squad subject to fitness, continues to face delays in her comeback to competitive cricket. The 22-year-old also missed out on the 2025 Women’s Premier League (WPL), where Sneh Rana replaced her in the Royal Challengers Bengaluru squad.
Priya Mishra, meanwhile, was part of last year’s India A tour to Australia and her absence will be a big miss in the spin department. She was an instrumental part of the bowling attack last year, picking up 5 wickets in one of the one-day games and claiming an impressive 6-wicket haul in the unofficial Test.
Dhara Gujjar, Prema Rawat Earn Full-Format Call-Ups for Australia Tour
The selectors have called up two promising replacements in 22-year-old Dhara Gujjar and 23-year-old Prema Rawat, both named across all three formats. Gujjar was already in the squad for the one-day and red-ball games, while Rawat, originally picked for just the T20s, has now been added to the other two squads as well.
Wicketkeeper-batter Yastika Bhatia also joins the one-day squad to add experience in the middle order. The India A side will be captained by Radha Yadav with Minnu Mani as her deputy.
Star international Indian opener Shafali Verma is another notable name, featuring in all three squads for the tour, bringing firepower and leadership at the top. This tour will serve as a key opportunity for India’s emerging players to push for senior team contention ahead of a busy international calendar.
