A disastrous incident has unfolded in Maharashtra's Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar district, where a player collapsed on the field while batting and then passed away within minutes due to a heart attack as doctors declared him dead. The player in contention was Imran Sikandar Patel, who was representing Lucky Builders during the match against Young XI at Garware Cricket Stadium.

What Happened To Imran Patel?

The 40-year-old Imran was batting beautifully striking two fours in the sixth over of the game, after which he started feeling a bit uneasy. Before the start of the seventh over, Patel confessed to umpires about his complex condition and said,

"My neck and hand are hurting. I will go outside and get a medicine pill."

Listening to this, the umpires advised him to immediately take the precaution and get himself checked at the hospital. Following this, he started to walk back towards the pavilion, but as fate would have it, he unfortunately couldn't even make it back to the dugout where his teammates were stationed. He collapsed near the boundary rope, leaving his teammates and officials in disbelief.

All the players and officials present on the field ran to his aide and promptly rushed him to the hospital, where the doctors couldn't save his life.

Survived by his wife, three daughters, mother, and siblings, Patel will be dearly missed by his family as well as the local cricketing community because of his high batting calibre.
