Out of favour, Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan has finally managed to come out of a legal battle with ex-wife Aesha Mukerji, after a family court in Delhi ruled the decision in favour of the cricketer.

The Delhi court has granted Dhawan a divorce on grounds of mental cruelty against Mukerji. As stated by Bar and Bench, all of the allegations filed by Dhawan in divorce petition Mukerji were accepted by the court, which the former wife did not challenge.

The judge found Mukerji guilty of mentally torturing Dhawan by keeping the batter away from meeting his son. Moreover, the count permitted Dhawan visitation rights to meet his son but refrained from passing any order on custody.

Dhawan and Mukerji married in 2012, and had their son Zoravar in 2014, before parting ways in 2021.

The court also ordered Mukerji to allow Zoravar to visit India for visitation, which includes staying with Dhawan and his family during vacations.

As per Dhawan's petition, Mukerji talked about staying in India post-marriage but went back to Australia with her prior commitments with her ex-husband, with whom she has two daughters as well.

The Delhi-batter further alleged that Mukerji forced him to give her 99 percent ownership in his three properties in Australia, apart from making joint-owners in two other.

The court also accepted Dhawan's claims about providing Mukerji financial support for her daughters, which amounts to AUSD $15,500 to AUSD $17,500 per month.
