On the field, Pakistan might have lost their second and last ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 warm-up last evening, but in the team hotel at Hyderabad, the team atmosphere was quite upbeat as the players celebrated vice-captain Shadab Khan's birthday.

Khan, who turns 25 today, was thrown a surprise birthday bash, where all other members of the Pakistan squad converged in the all-rounder room, and landed up with multiple celebratory cakes.

In the clip shared by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) official 'X' handle, players like Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Haris Rauf were present with Khan in his room, while others led by Hasan Ali, entered the space with customary cake.

Khan is a vital cog in Pakistans' limited-overs scheme of things and took charge against Australia on Tuesday at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, with Azam resting. 

Despite a lack of form coming into the tournament, team management opted to rest Khan from the first warm-up against New Zealand and had the player lead against Australia, claiming one wicket while conceding 69 runs. 

The Islamabad United skipper has been dealing with a lack of form recently and needs to regain his confidence, as Pakistan will play on turning pitches as the World Cup progresses. In 64 ODIs, the Mianwali-born has claimed 83 wickets and scored 734 runs.
