Legendary batter Rohit Sharma has landed in massive trouble as people have accused him of disrespecting the Indian national flag. Notably, Rohit, who led India to their second T20 World Cup title, updated his profile picture on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) on Monday.

The Mumbaikar used his recently clicked image with the national flag at Kensington Oval, Barbados, after India's remarkable World Cup win as his new profile picture.

Although Rohit tried to convey his immense love for the motherland, his actions didn't go well with the Indian Twitter users, who accused him of disrespecting the Tricolour.

Some people pointed out that the national flag was touching the ground in Rohit's updated profile picture. However, according to the flag code of India, “The flag shall not be allowed to touch the ground or the floor or trail in water."

Therefore, the Indian fans criticised the cricketer for his casual mistake, asking him to apologise and change his profile picture.

Rohit, who retired from T20Is after India's World Cup triumph in the Caribbean, will likely be rested for the Sri Lanka ODIs alongside senior members Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah.

So, the talismanic opener will return to the setup for the home season, starting with a two-match Test series against Bangladesh.
