Bangladesh Skipper Shakib Al Hasan has admitted to viewing the upcoming Asia Cup as just a preparatory tournament for the T20 World Cup scheduled Down Under in October.
When quizzed about the objectives he wants to achieve in the Asia Cup, the experienced all-rounder disclosed that he hasn't set any goals going into the tournament.
The 35-year-old further stressed that as the skipper, he needs some time to evolve the team; therefore, Bangladesh's actual development can only be assessed from their performance in the World Cup.
"I have no goals. My only aim is that we can do well in the World Cup and these are the preparations for it. If someone thinks that I can change things within one or two days or someone else will come to change it, then we are living in a fool's kingdom,"
"If you are able to think practically, our true development will be seen when the team really does well in the World Cup in three months' time."
