Bangladesh head coach Russell Domingo was a no-show at team’s practice match for the upcoming Asia Cup 2022.

Shakib Al Hasan’s drawcards were present at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Sunday, August 21. The players played out a training match between Bangladesh Red and Bangladesh Green.

Bangladesh batting consultant Jamie Siddons and fielding coach Shane McDermott were among the attendees at the team’s practice match at Mirpur. Pace and spin bowling coaches, Allan Donald and Rangana Herath respectively, were also present at the venue to see the progress of the players.

However, South Africa-based Russell Domingo was nowhere to be seen and his absence was noted by the media present at the stadium. As per reports, he was called in by the BCB President Nazmul Hassan at his residence a day prior to the training.

The reports further indicated that Domingo might not feature in Asia Cup 2022 at all, considering a new set-up is speculated to arrive in the team’s T20 department.

Cricketer Mosaddek Hossain spoke to the media regarding the matter and hinted about the arrival of a new set-up. However, he also added that he is unaware about coach Domingo’s current status with the team as such decisions will be taken by the board.
