In a bad news coming up from the Bangladesh camp, Shakib Al Hasan, the star all-rounder and Bangladesh captain has been ruled out of Bangla Tigers' final game of World Cup against Bangladesh. Shakin hurt his left index finger while batting against Sri Lanka and the emergency x-ray result has confirmed the fracture on his left PIP joint.

Shakib did deliver a strong performance against Sri Lanka to take his side over the line with 82 runs off the bat and two wickets with the ball. However, the ‘Time-Out’ controversy grabbed all the eyeballs, and Shakib was criticized from various corners for his decision not to take back his appeal.

Bangladesh are already out of the semifinal race but still have qualification for Champions Trophy 2025 on line and Shakib’s absence will surely dampen their spirits. Bangladesh team physio Bayjedul Islam Khan informed media that Shakib batted with supportive tapping and painkillers against Sri Lanka and his recovery will take three to four weeks.

"Shakib was struck on his left index finger early in his innings but continued to bat with supportive taping and painkillers. He underwent an emergency X-ray in Delhi after the game which confirmed the fracture on the left PIP joint. Recovery is estimated at three to four weeks. He will leave for Bangladesh today to begin his rehab.”

Najmul Hossain Shanto is likely to lead Bangladesh in their final World Cup 2023 game. They will play their last  game against Australia on 11th of November at Pune and would be looking to end a disappointing campaign on a high.
