Virat Kohli is an icon in world of cricket and is appreciated all over the world for his antics on the field in his illustrious 15-year old career. Over the years, there have been some criticism of Kohli for his aggressive attitude but overall, he is widely respected in the cricketing world across the globe.

In the 37th game of World Cup 2023 between India and South Africa, Virat Kohli reached another significant milestone with his 49th ODI century. He equalled Sachin Tendulkar's record of 49 ODI centuries and with one more century, he will become the first batter in history to score 50 ODI centuries. He achieved this memorable feat on his 35th birthday as well, making it even more memorable and congratulatory messages came flooding in from all corners for arguably one of the greatest batters in cricket history.

However, Kusal Mendis, the Sri Lankan skipper has come up with quite a bizarre comment when he was asked about Virat's 49th ODI century.

On the eve of Sri Lanka's game against Bangladesh at Delhi, Kusal Mendis was asked by reporter whether he would like to congratulate Virat Kohli on his 49th ODI ton and everyone would have expected that the Lankan skipper will at least show some basic decency and gratitude and congratulate Kohli. However, he replied quite bluntly which raised quite a few eyebrows.

This was the conversation between reporter and Kusal Mendis -

Reporter - " Virat Just scored his 49th ODI ton. Do you like to congratulate him?"

Kusal Mendis - " Why I Would Congratulate him?

Talking about cricket, Virat Kohli's century asserted India's dominance in World Cup once again while Sri Lanka are on a brink of elimination and only have a slim mathematical chance to make it into the semis.
