Pakistan's premier fast bowler Shaheen Afridi has become a father, welcoming a baby boy with wife Ansha Afridi amid the ongoing first Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. 

According to Cricket Pakistan, the couple are celebrating the birth of their first child, naming him Aliyar. 

The joyful news was made official by the Afridi family on social media, as Shaheen's fans and well-wishers congratulated him for embracing fatherhood. 

This is also a momentous occasion for Ansha Afridi's father and legendary Pakistani all-rounder, Shahid Afridi, as he becomes a grand father for the first time.

Will Shaheen Afridi miss 2nd Test vs Bangladesh?

As Shaheen Afridi has become a father, he might request the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to relieve him ahead of the second Test in Rawalpindi. 

Although the board is yet to release an official statement on the matter, several reports claim that Shaheen could miss the game in order to be with his wife and family. 

On Shaheen's availability, Pakistan's Test coach Jason Gillespie had stated, 

"Shaheen can miss Bangladesh Test matches due to childbirth. We can give him some rest if he wants to stay with his wife till then."

Meanwhile, regarding the first Test, the game is heading towards a draw, with Bangladesh showing resilience in response to Pakistan's first innings total of 448/6. 

As of writing, the visitors were comfortably placed at 426/6, with Mushfiqur Rahim and Mehidy Hasan Miraz batting in the middle.
