In a significant development, Pakistan cricketers Shaheen Shah Afridi, Saud Shakeel, and Kamran Ghulam have been fined for violating Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during their tri-nation series match against South Africa in Karachi on Wednesday.

Afridi, Shakeel, Ghulam Fined For Violating Rules

It is important to mention that, Shaheen Afridi was handed 25 per cent fine on his match fee for breaching Article 2.12 of the ICC Code of Conduct. 'Inappropriate physical contact with a Player, Player Support Personnel, Umpire, Match Referee or any other person (including a spectator) during an International Match.”

This incident occurred in the 28th over of South Africa’s innings when ace pacer Shaheen Afridi deliberately obstructed batter Matthew Breetzke while he was running a single. This incident led to inappropriate physical contact and a heated argument in the match.

Meanwhile, Saud Shakeel and substitute fielder Kamran Ghulam were fined 10% of their match fees for their excessive celebration near Temba Bavuma after running him out in the 29th over.

It is important to mention that the duo Saud and Kamran were found to have breached Article 2.5 of the Code: 'Using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during an International Match.' Along with this fine, one demerit point has been added to the disciplinary records for all three Pakistan players.

It is important to note that, under ICC regulations, level 1 breaches typically result in a minimum reprimand and a maximum fine of 50% of a player's match fee, along with up to one demerit point.
