In a significant development, Indian Test captain Shubman Gill and his Gujarat Titans opening partner B Sai Sudharsan are set to miss the second unofficial Test between India A and the England Lions. The dynamic batting duo wasn't a part of the India-A squad, but the players were expected to join the rest of the team before the final unofficial Test.
Gill, Sudharsan Not To Feature In 2nd Unofficial Test
As the BCCI had stated, newly appointed Test captain Shubman Gill and stylish left-handed batter B Sai Sudharsan were scheduled to link up with the India-A squad after completing their IPL 2025 stint with Gujarat Titans.
However, as reported by TOI, these two batters have been allotted a few rest days to get themselves physically and mentally ready for the five-match Test series.
In fact, Gill is set to address a pre-departure press conference, where head coach Gautam Gambhir will likely accompany him. The reliable batting duo is expected to depart for England on June 6 and hence, it's likely to miss the second unofficial Test, which starts the same day.
"Both Sai and Gill have been training with the red ball over the last few days. After a long tournament, they need some rest and recovery," a source was quoted as saying by TOI
However, the report also claims that these two batters will utilise the four-day intra-squad match to fine-tune their red-ball game ahead of the high-voltage Test series. The intra-squad fixture is scheduled at Beckenham from June 13-16.
Meanwhile, veteran Indian batter KL Rahul will travel to the European country on Monday and represent India-A in the second unofficial Test against England Lions. Rahul recently urged the BCCI for an early departure to get himself prepared for the red-ball challenge.
