The Ajit Agarkar-led senior India selection committee will be discussing with batting legend Virat Kohli his availability for selection in the final three Tests amidst rumours that the cricketer could be out for the entire England series anticipating the birth of his second child.

Even as the media for once obliged to the BCCI's wish and didn't speculate on the great player's withdrawal and absence for the first two Tests in Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam, his friend and South African legend Ab de Villiers failed to keep his word and revealed Kohli is expecting the birth of his next child.

"Yes, his second child is on the way. It's family time and things are important to him. If you are not true and genuine to yourself, you lose track of what you are here for. I think most people's priority is family," De Villiers said in response to a fan query during a Q&A session on YouTube.

"You can't judge Virat for that. Yes, we miss him. But he has made absolutely the right decision."

Selection Panel To Talk With Virat Kohli

While De Villiers' unexpected revelation came as a cause of relief for Kohli's passionate fans as they wondered about the player's health and whereabouts, it is understood Agarkar and the rest of the selection committee would be entering a discussion table with him immediately after the second Test and determine if he is available for the last three Tests.

A source privy to the developments told PTI that Agarkar is keen to get Kohli's perspective and would be respectful of the cricketer's choice if he opts to continue being with his family and wife Anushka Sharma at this point.

"Family comes first as BCCI's press release stated and Virat will only play if he feels that he is in a position to play," the BCCI source said.

The third Test of the five-match series will be played in Rajkot from February 15.
