On Wednesday, December 18, R Ashwin shook the world after he announced his retirement from international cricket midway through the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The right-arm off-spinner held a press conference where he revealed his decision to hang up his boots in international cricket with immediate effect.

It was an emotional day for the Indian fans as well as within the cricketing fraternity. Several active and former cricketers took to social media platforms to celebrate Ashwin's legacy and also wished him well for the future.

R Ashwin Drops Retirement Video On Social Media Platforms

Meanwhile, in the latest events, Ashwin himself took to social media and dropped a retirement video where he thanked his former and current teammates for their support and also fans for their encouragement throughout his 15-year-long international career.

"The love we give away is the only love we keep," Ashwin captioned the post. He also added glimpses of the visuals that went viral on the last day of the Gabba Test, which features him having an emotional chat with Virat Kohli in the dressing room and hug he and Rohit shared during the press conference.

Ash also gave a special mention to Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara, who were the pillars of the Indian team a few years back. Talking about the two red-ball maestro, Rohit Sharma, who addressed the press alongside Ashwin, talked about missing veteran players by his side in the dressing room.

He talked about Ashwin, Rahane, and Pujara in the same sentence and then realised that Rahane and Pujara are active cricketers. Rohit praised the batters and also talked about how the doors to the Indian team is still open for them. 

 Talking about Ashwin, the right-arm off-spinner will still be seen on the cricketing field and play in the IPL for Chennai Super Kings.
