Saskia Horley propels Scotland to a competitive total
Invited to bat first, opener Ailsa Lister (17 off 10) flexed her arms to provide a quick start to the Scotland team. Sarah Bryce (17 off 17) was brisk during her stay at the crease, before becoming first victim to Cara Murray.
Although Abbi Aitken-Drummond and Lorna Jack could not provide substantial contributions, the talented Saskia Horley continued her rich vein of form to steer the team well in the latter half of their innings.
Horley made her way after a well-compiled 44 off 33, laced with three sixes and two fours. Afterwards, the tail-enders could not provide a flourish, and Scotland finished on 126/8 in their designated quota of 20 overs. The leg-spinner Cara Murray picked two wickets for the visitors.
In response to the chase, Gaby Lewis started well, but was soon cleaned up by Rachel Slater. Then, Amy Hunter made good use of the wayward balls by Scotland, while Orla Prendergast was flawless in her knock to find consistent boundaries.
However, the incessant rain forced the match to be awarded to Ireland, on account of their score of 44/1 in five overs.
