Legendary Indian batter Virat Kohli missed out on a golden opportunity, as he failed to convert his fifty into a three-figure score in the final ODI against England in Ahmedabad. Coming at number three, Kohli struck 52 runs off 55 deliveries before Adil Rashid bamboozled him with a sharp turner.
The incident occurred in the 19th over of India's innings when England desperately needed someone to break the stand between Kohli and Shubman Gill. Skipper Jos Buttler's decision to bring Adil Rashid weaved magic for the hosts, as the ace spinner got rid of Kohli with a beautiful delivery.
From over the wicket, Rashid bowled a full-length delivery that turned sharply after pitching around the middle stump. As Kohli went forward to play a defensive shot, the ball took a thin outside edge off his bat, with Phil Salt collecting a clean catch behind the stumps.
As soon as the English players appealed for a caught behind, Kohli started making his way back to the dugout.
Shubman Gill Joined By Shreyas Iyer As India Dominate England
After Kohli's dismissal, in-form batter Shreyas Iyer joined Shubman Gill in the middle. Gill has looked sublime with the bat, racing towards a flamboyant hundred. As of writing, India were 144 for two in 22.1 overs, with Gill and Iyer batting on 77* and 6*, respectively.
