In a significant development, India star opener KL Rahul has added another feather to his illustrious cap as the right-handed batter completed 4000 Test runs in the ongoing first Test between India and South Africa at Eden Gardens. Early on Day 2, KL required just runs to enter the elite club and the 33-year-old reached the milestone in style when he whacked Marco Jansen to a glorious four in the first over of the new day. 

Rahul, who is unbeaten on 15 (62) balls, achieved the feat in his 115th Test innings and has become the 18th Indian to enter the 4000 Test runs club. Rahul's illustrious career features an average of 37.67 and 11 red-ball hundreds.

KL Rahul, who has now joined the likes of MS Dhoni, Gautam Gambhir, and Rohit Sharma in the four thousand Test runs club, is having a dream year as the right-handed batter has already piled up 762 Test runs this year, the most for him in a calendar year.

Notably, Rahul has played 16 Test innings in 2025 and amassed 762 runs, averaging 54.42, which features three centuries, which includes two hundreds in England a ton at home. Thus, KL has fulfilled most of his long-awaited dreams which is to dominate at home, shine in England. Also, Rahul has never scored more than two tons in a year, a record he shattered in 2025 with three centuries.
