Sri Lanka head coach Sanath Jayasuriya believes India will feel the absence of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja in the upcoming white-ball series against Sri Lanka, starting on July.

The former Sri Lanka captain stated that Lankans aims to exploit the gaps created by their absence in the Indian XI. He praised Rohit, Kohli, and Jadeja as among the best players in the world, highlighting their talent and contributions to Indian cricket.

Have to take maximum advantage: Jayasuriya

“Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are the best players in the world. Looking at their talent and the kind of cricket they have played we all know where they belong, along with Jadeja,” Jayasuriya said. "Their absence will be a loss to the Indian team and we have to take maximum advantage out of that,” he added.

The three star players have ended their T20I careers, follwing the T20 World Cup win in Barbados, with Rohit and Kohli set to return for the ODI series.

India have selected Suryakumar Yadav as the new T20I captain, with Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal replacing Rohit and Kohli at the top.

Jayasuriya acknowledged India's wealth of talent, but emphasized the significance of the absent players, who have starred in many memorable T20I wins for India over the years. The series marks a new chapter in Indian cricket under head coach Gautam Gambhir.
