A new and young team India arrived in Pallekele, Sri Lanka for the three-match T20I series starting on July 27. 

India will be without Rahul Dravid and rather the series will mark Gautam Gambhir’s first assignment as India head coach. Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav will lead the side. 

Ahead of the crucial multi-format tour, Sri Lanka star seamer Matheesha Pathirana has issued a warning to the Men in Blue and stated that the Island Nation would look to upset India. 

Pathirana stated that the current Sri Lanka side are full of talent and potential and win over India would be a confidence booster for the next three years. 

“I think it will be a good challenge. India is coming with a new coach and some new players; their combination will be slightly different. But it will be a good challenge for us because they are world champions,” Pathirana said.


“We have a very good side and a lot of talent and potential. Unfortunately, we didn’t do well in the T20 World Cup. But if we can win this series, it will be a confidence booster for the next three years,” he added.

However, Sri Lanka have dealt a heavy blow ahead of the start of the series as Dushmantha Chameera has been ruled out of the tour because of injury.
