Month after MI completed the takeover of their latest franchise, MI London (formerly Oval Invincibles), the team have confirmed their pre-auction signings and have named Sam Curran as their captain ahead of The Hundred 2026, as a reward for his consistent all-round performances in leagues across the world.

MI London have also decided to retain the services of Will Jacks, while signing The Hundred Women's competition star player Danni Wyatt-Hodge as their marquee names heading into the player auction.

Sam Curran to lead MI London in the new era

Following the multiple franchise takeovers ahead of The Hundred Men's and Women's teams, all teams were allowed to lock in at most four players ahead of the player auctions, which will reportedly take place in March 2026, and MI London went with Sam Curran as their new skipper after Sam Billings led them to three consecutive titles from 2023 to 2025.

England teammate, Will Jacks, who has also been a part of the team since the inaugural season of 2021 and has been Oval Invincible's all time leading run-scorer, will also remain an integral part of the franchise moving forward. Additionally, they have swooped in the services of the former Southern Brave Women's player Danni Wyatt-Hodge for the forthcoming season.

"In Sam and Will, we have signed two of the best English white-ball cricketers there are. Danni is a fan favourite in south London with her performances for Surrey and England and has already tasted success at the Kia Oval. She's been prolific in The Hundred and is one of the most exciting players in the game," said the MI London chairman, Oli Slipper.

MI look to build on Oval Invincibles' legacy

Leading up to the brand new 2026 season, where the league will see multiple changes, including the takeovers and auctions, MI London will stand a chance to further stamp their authority after their three The Hundred Men's and two The Hundred Women's competitions as the most successful teams in the history.

While captain Sam Billings has not been retained by the MI leadership after captaining the team in 42 matches and winning 28, there is a chance that he returns to the franchise through the auction to continue his legacy with them.

As things stand, they have the services of 2nd leading run getter in Women's competition in Wyatt-Hodge, who is only 77 runs behind Nat Sciver-Brunt and the third highest scorer in Men's competition Jacks, who is only 18 runs behind James Vince and 73 runs behind Phil Salt. Captain Curran has scored 757 runs in 32 innings at a strike rate of 150.49 and has 45 wickets (joint-second) in 36 innings.
