Ruturaj Gaikwad, one of the most consistent batters in Indian domestic circuit has been appointed as the captain of Maharashtra for the Ranji Trophy 2024-25.  He replaces Kedar Jadhav who has retired from all forms of cricket and Gaikwad who has even led India in T20Is before, has been elevated as a full-time captain.

The Maharashtra selectors have announced a 28-member squad which include plenty of exciting names like Arshin Kulkarni and Vicky Ostwal. Along with these youngsters, some IPL stars like Rahul Tripathi and Mukesh Choudhary.

In the last season, Maharashtra managed to win just one out of their seven games and finished seventh in the Elite Group A.  The new season will kick-off on 11th of October 2024 and Maharashtra will kick-start their season against Jammu and Kashmir.

Ruturaj Gaikwad's Non-Selection For SL Tour

As far as Ruturaj Gaikwad is concerned, he recently did well in T20Is in Zimbabwe but could not find a place in both ODI and T20I squad for Sri Lanka series. There has been lot of criticism of his non-selection in the squad despite consistent performances, and it would be interesting to see how he goes about his business in the upcoming domestic season.
