The stage is set for the final Test match of the three-match Test series between England and West Indies and the caravan has now moved to Birmingham with England already taking an unassailable lead of 2-0 in the series. There are still WTC points up for grabs though, so, expect both teams to give their all in this last encounter.

ENG vs WI: Team Preview

England

The English side under Ben Stokes have continued with their aggressive brand of cricket and have registered impressive wins in both the games. The first game was a cakewalk, but the way they came back in the second game after being put under pressure, speaks a lot about the quality and belief in the squad.

England have rightly named an unchanged XI for the final game and almost all their batters have scored runs with Ollie Pope leading the charts with 229 runs in three innings. In the second innings of the last Test match, Root and Harry Brook stepped up and scored brilliant centuries, and once again we can expect the top five to do the bulk of scoring for England.

Ben Stokes though is due for a big score and English fans would be hoping that he signs off the series on a high.

On the bowling front, Gus Atkinson after his heroics in the debut Test, continued his good form in Trent Bridge while Mark Wood proved too hot to handle with his rapid bullets.

Woakes, on the other hand, did what he is known to do in English conditions and one of the biggest positives from the second Test was the five-wicket haul of Shoaib Bashir which now provides a great balance and flexibility to England.

West Indies

The Windies would be pretty disappointed with the way they let things drift away in the second Test after putting up a good fight in the first innings.

The duo of Alick Athanaze and Kavem Hodge were the main architects of that fight, but in the second innings, both their batting and bowling faltered big time, which will not go down well with their captain who himself could not convert his starts into a big score despite getting handy 40s in both the innings.

The good news is that Gudakesh Motie is fit and ready for the final battle and he will be replacing Kevin Sinclair in the XI. Rest of the line-up is likely to remain same, but they to click as a unit and in unison, if they want to challenge England here.

Joshua Da Silva is another player who showed his class in the second Test, while on the bowling front, Jayden Seales has been their most successful bowler. Shamar Joseph and Alzarri Joseph though have not been able to live upto their billing, and it is high time that they join the party.

ENG vs WI, 3rd Test: Edgbaston Pitch Report

The pitch at Edgbaston is expected to assist pacers with good movement off the deck. If the conditions are overcast, the ball can swing around too, making it difficult for the batters. However, there are runs to be scored as well, if the batters apply themselves and it could get a bit easier to bat from the Day 3 onwards. Overall, it would be a good balanced Test cricket track which will keep everyone interested and the captain winning the toss would most likely decide to bowl first.
