Ruturaj Gaikwad's non-selection in the Indian team for the Sri Lanka series has been criticised from all corners. He was brilliant in the series against Zimbabwe, batting in varied positions, but still could not find a place in the T20I or ODI side for the Lanka series, whereas many who have not delivered to the standards of Gaikwad, have been selected.

The selection and appointment of Shubman Gill has especially come under the scanner with many blaming that he is in the team because of his brand value. Now, the former India and CSK star, S Badrinath, has also lashed out at the tendency of bias in Indian selection.

S Badrinath On India Selection For SL Series

He mentioned that sometimes when the deserving players like Rinku Singh and Ruturaj Gaikwad are not selected, it seems that there is more to selection that just cricketing performances. He added that things like having a bad guy image, a relationship with bollywood actress, good media manager and even body tattoos seem to influence the selection.

"Sometimes it seems like you need a bad guy image when the likes of Rinku Singh, Ruturaj Gaikwad and others are not selected  for the Indian team. It seems that you need to be in a relationship with some Bollywood Actresses, have a good media manager, and have body tattoos," Badrinath said in a video on social media.

It remains to be seen how Indian selectors or team management reacts to criticism coming their way, and maybe the best the likes of Shubman Gill can do is to make their bat do all the talking.
