Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain Ruturaj Gaikwad achieved an important milestone by overtaking CSK legend Michael Hussey to become the franchise's fourth highest run getter.

Gaikwad achieved this feat during his match-winning innings of 98 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at MA Chidambaram Stadium.

Ruturaj Gaikwad's match-winning innings of 98 runs from 54 balls, including 10 boundaries and three sixes, set the stage for Chennai Super Kings' important win. Opening the innings, Gaikwad's flawless performance left opponents little chance in the game while CSK batted.

Gaikwad's tally of 2244 runs in 61 games, with an average of 42.33 and a strike rate of 138.09, outshines Hussey's 2213 runs in 64 games, with an average of 40.98 and a strike rate of 122.98. Gaikwad has two centuries and 17 fifties for CSK while Hussey has one century and 17 fifties.

Suresh Raina, famously dubbed Mr. IPL, holds the crown as the leading scorer for Chennai Super Kings with an impressive tally of 5529 runs from 200 games in all T20 cricket for CSK, spanning both IPL and Champions League.

 Following closely are former CSK skipper MS Dhoni and the consistent Faf du Plessis, rounding up the top three scorers for the franchise. 

Ruturaj Gaikwad, a pivotal member of Chennai Super Kings since joining in 2020, has celebrated two IPL victories with the team in 2021 and 2023.

 Currently leading CSK, Gaikwad's impressive performance with both bat and leadership is pivotal, especially as this season might mark the end of MS Dhoni's tenure.
