'There Was Pressure': Shreyas Opens Up About Captaincy Role Ahead Of KKR Vs DC Clash

Shreyas Iyer, the ace batter of India, opened up about the challenges he faced as the young captain of Delhi Capitals (DC) ahead of becoming the captain of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
After his tenure with DC, the 29-year-old cricketer missed the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 edition because of injury but returned in the 2024 IPL edition as the captain of KKR.
In the ongoing IPL 2024, under the astute leadership of Shreyas Iyer, KKR is having a commendable season and is currently placed in the second position in the IPL points table. KKR has won five out of eight matches so far in the cash-rich league and has attained 10 points.

Shreyas Iyer Opens Up On Captaincy Challenges
In talking at Knight Club on Star Sports, Shreyas Iyer, the current captain of Kolkata Knight Riders, opened up his experience with the captaincy. Ahead of, becoming the captain of KKR, Shreyas Iyer was the captain of Delhi Capitals and he was given this responsibility at a very young age of 23 years.
The star batter of India claimed that he was under pressure on the captaincy as it was a big responsibility but he also believes that he enjoys and thrives well under pressure situations.
“I personally feel that I thrive under challenges. It was a wonderful opportunity to captain the side. I grabbed it with both hands. Obviously, there was pressure. At that age because you haven’t performed exceptional but you want to showcase you maturity at that level,” Shreyas Iyer said.
KKR will play its next fixture under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer against Delhi Capitals on April 29, 2024, at the prestigious Eden Gardens.
